Course Description: The first twenty five or so years of George III long reign saw big changes in Britain. The actions of an inexperienced monarch led to a period of political instability which had to be set against a rising American crisis, the product of an unpopular war. Meanwhile society was being transformed by the birth pangs of an industrial revolution and the transformation of attitudes and behaviour arsing from a religious revival whose influence extended into the twentieth century.
